| What is the difference between Video Vault and the DVDX Series? |
| DVDXpress, Gold and Platinum enable you to create a backup of a DVD movie to one blank DVD disc or multiple discs depending on the product. For example, you can safely store your original and let the kids use the backup or take the backup copy for travel. |
| Video Vault is for those wishing to transfer their DVD Collection or Video Tapes to the computer and view them on that computer, stream them to a video server, create a new DVD that is a compilation of many DVD's, or export those movies to be viewed on a device such as a PDA or Personal Video Player. |
| Are free updates available? |
| Yes, free life-time product version updates are provided for all X Software products - the latest versions always available online. X Softwares' extensive R&D team works year round to improve performance and enhance features. Our global team of software engineers work on daily basis with media and drive manufacturers to ensure the industry's highest level of compatibility. |
| Do Video Vault and the DVDX
Series support high speed & dual format/double layer burners and blank disc
media? |
Yes! X Software invests heavily in the developing
the most advanced burning technology in the industry.
Our software works with the latest high speed drives and burners with double
layer media support. This commitment to technology ensures that X Software
backup products work with more burners, blank disc media and have higher burn
success rates in the industry. |
| Can I backup DVDs which are copy
protected? |
Many commercial movies are encrypted with CSS, an
access control mechanism found on many commercially available DVD movies.
Not all movies are CSS protected. You can use DVDXPlatinum, DVDXGold, DVDXPress
or Video Vault to make a backup copy of personally authored DVDs or non-CSS
protected public domain works or movies.
In order to backup DVD movies which are CSS protected, additional DVD software
is required. Such software lets your computer read CSS encrypted data on a DVD
movie before/during the process of making a backup copy.
Unfortunately, current interpretation of laws in some countries, including the
US, prohibits us from distributing X Software products with this software in it.
We realize that many of our customers live outside the United States, and the
laws in other countries are not the same as those in the U.S. If you live in a
country where you are allowed to use freely available DVD software such as
"ANYDVD" or "DVD43FREE," you can download it and use it for purposes permitted
in your country. If permitted, you can go to www.google.com or another favorite
search engine to locate, download and install such software.
We highly recommend www.google.com as the best search engine to use.
If you live in the United States, please understand that the Digital Millennium
Copyright Act (DMCA) passed in 1998 does not expressly prohibit consumers from
making backup copies of digital works - only the sale & distribution of tools
that circumvent copy prevention technologies.
Please understand ANYDVD, DVD43FREE or any other freely available software found
on the Internet are developed by independent third parties and are not
distributed by, affiliated to or associated with X Software. We cannot and do
not provide support for these third party software products. |
| Are the DVDX products compatible with most DVD drives and media? |
| Yes, X Software provides the industry's most advanced backup technology. We constantly update all of our products to ensure their compatibility with the latest dvd burner hardware and blank disc media technologies. In fact, we are the only company you will find that offers a 90-day unconditional guarantee. Not a "risk free" trial or other conditional guarantee. Only software products with a very high compatibility and burn success rate can make this claim - this is what make the DVDX backup series unique. |
| (DVDXPlatinum) Why would I use
Advanced over Simple mode? |
In Simple mode you only have two choices: the
movie alone, or the entire disc.
In Platinum's Advanced mode you have more control over which Titlesets are
backed up onto the disc, as well as having control over the compression for each
Titleset. In Advanced you also have the choice of splitting the movie onto 2
discs with no compression to preserve quality. |
| How long does it take to copy a DVD? |
| No other company offers a faster backup solution. Most movies, even on older computers, can be copied in less than an hour. |
| What makes a great DVD backup solution? |
